waking up covered in gold glitter

I have decided that yesterday is worth documenting. First things first, I went to the grad. bar with the Dr. last night, then stayed at his place until like 2 am. So first thing this morning I had to be up to take care of my 3 boys. I get to their house at 8:30AM and slather them up with sunscreen and throw their bike helmets on so we can meet up with the neighbor and his kids for a bike ride. Of course the four year old doesn't want to ride his own bike so I ended up doing the ride with him in the kiddy seat on the back of the bike. We went along the river, through the neighborhood (beautiful multi-million dollar homes everywhere) and all over the cemetery. After 2 hours I thought my legs were going to give out, but we made it home with no major incidents. I fed the boys and sent the oldest off to a birthday party. The little ones and I spent the rest of the afternoon playing and eventually their mom came and took them all to the pool. Next I went to my friends secret agent potluck party where there was a four level human pyramid, parade with Noah's Ark, dancing on the street and car, and me hitting someone on the balcony square between the eyes with a donut hole. He thought he saw god or at least something holy, but in fact it was quite the opposite. LOL. So after that I brought one of my friends back to my place to hang out until the event that was happening later. We of course ran into my darling roommate and while we were making plans with him and random neighbor showed up and invited us to a party. So we hung out at a party at the neighbors for a bit. It was super awkward, because we didn't know anyone and all the other guests were way older, but everyone was very nice. Then we came home and threw darts and drank some more before heading over the another friends house to get dressed up for the parade and dance party downtown. Some one loaned me and awesome sequined purple dress!!! I might not give it back. So finally we all headed downtown where we were in the parade. I ran into about a million people I know. It was so weird that every where I looked I saw someone I knew and even better, my "landlord" randomly knows all the same people I know. I would find someone I know and start talking to them and he would come right up and already know them. So somewhere along the parade route someone gave me a bag of glitter which I proceeded to use to cover everyone I know with glitter. Which explains why this morning when I got up to pee I looked in the mirror and was gold and sparkly from head to toe. Anyway after the parade, there were a bunch of stages set up all over downtown and there was constant music all night long. Even at 3 am when we finally left, the party was still going strong. I literally danced so much I am sore. I think we would have stayed longer, but water was impossible to find and after 5 hours of dancing we were getting desperate. So after the long walk home, a gallon of water and a "who has the dirtiest feet" contest I crawled into bed still covered in glitter.

People I Hate Continued

My landlord sucks. He a creepy old fix it man into my apartment while I was asleep. Didn't call, didn't give any warning, nothing, just let the guy in to fix something with out telling me. I only know this because I happened to wake up to the sound of power tools. I was all groggy and half asleep and heard a noise, but thought WTF is that? so I stumble out of my room, still in a daze, only to find myself face to face with a scruffy old man with an electric drill. NOT OK. So I told the landlord that he was breaking the law and he just shrugged it off. UGH... I HATE MY LANDLORD. Thank god I am moving asap.

I forgot one thing...

my latest obsession, leggings, but not just any leggings. So I pretty much hate leggings on most people with most outfits, but when done right I don't mind them. I personally never wore them because A: I didn't own any B: I didn't have any outfits that needed them. So while pulling clothes out of the university dumpster I found a few pairs in great condition and thought I would try them with my new summer dress. Not only were they practically new, but they are super soft and comfy. So of course I am in love with them and want to buy more just like them. The obvious thing to do is to google the brand and find out where I can buy them. Sounds simple, right? Not so. Apparently they come from some super expensive designer and can only be bought at a few select boutiques, none of which are anywhere near where I live and besides that they cost a small fortune. No wonder they are so soft and comfy and wonderful. So now I am debating whether my spoiled legs can handle cheap target ones or if I should spring for some almost as soft/comfy ones at Urban Outfitters, even though I usually avoid that store due to how insanely expensive everything is and how rude the staff is.

update

sick again... ugh. Not sure what is going on, but my stomach can't handle anything lately. Normally I am one of those people who can eat anything (too spicey, no problem. too much dairy, no biggie. too much grease, no phasing this stomach of steel) with no problem, but for the past week everything makes me want to puke.

In other news I am moving. I am very unhappy with the situation leading up to the move, but I think that the new apartment/roommates will be fun for the summer. It is much closer to work, on a cute street with cutesy stores and cafes, and I will be living with some guys who are students at various local universities.

Running has been going well, lots of mileage. I dislocated two of my toes while stumbling around in the dark a few nights ago, but I only missed two days of running because of it. They still hurt a little, but only if I mess with them.

My weekend is almost over, but it was so nice to actually have a weekend after working multiple 60 hour weeks, plus I get an awesome weekend next week too. I will be going to the VISA National Gymnastics competition in Boston!!! I will try and write about it and post pictures afterwards.

Think about it

People think people think

long week

I was really really sick all week. I am so sick of being sick. Work was tiring but alright. Today we went to volunteer at an electronics recycling event. It was less painful than it could have been. We got free stuff and free food. Kind of a disappointing that we were the only volunteers there. Afterwards I went to the university to go dumpster diving. We all scored tons of new clothes and other goods. Now I am tired and sunburned and trying to muster up the energy to go out to the dance party. May or may not make it.

Hurt

What is the upside of hurt?

Getting in shape

So after more than a month of letting my foot heal, I finally was able to start running again which I am totally thrilled about . I have been trying to focus on eating really healthy and pushing myself to really stay serious with running, so I was brainstorming ways to stay motivated. I am considering being one of those people who posts daily miles, weight, and maybe even a picture every so often so I have something to judge my progress with. Also, I am trying to pick some races so that I have more concrete running goals. I am thinking about doing a 5k at the end of the month and hopefully a few more through the summer and fall. I will post which ones once I decide and then I will hopefully feel more of a commitment and will be able to stay more motivated. My only other hope now is that my broken old body stays healthy.

okay so day one...

I ran 3.25 miles in 37 minutes
I weighed 158 (yikes that is the worst EVER)
and I will take a picture later when I have more time. I have lesson plans that need to be written tonight :o(

old ramblings I found...

yet another cross country flight in search for what? a job? a home? a life? I travel with books, music players, laptops, movies... any effort to make the time pass, but in the rest of life aren't we always wishing we had more time? How can we constantly crave more time, time to do what?, yet when there is time to kill, time when it is perfectly acceptable to stop and think or doodle or daydream, these are the times we wish that their was some way to speed through. Instead of half a dozen methods to alleviate boredom, arms full, bags weighted, with tools for keeping the mind occupied, I should be traveling with my ticket, ID, and a lip gloss and if others joined me in this radical method of travel maybe just maybe there would be the possibility of meeting a new friend. What if we unplug the headphones from our overly stimulated ears, put down the books, turn off the computers, what if we smile at the person sharing our armrest, what if we all decided that having a conversation with a perfect stranger isn't such a scary idea after all?

P.S. This was something I wrote on a cross country trip while deliriously tired, but even though it rambles and doesn't make complete sense, I still think that there is some truth in it.

Latex allergies

So I was fortunate enough to learn the hard way that I am allergic to latex... hooray! (please note the sarcasm). Now I suppose there are some worse ways to learn this lesson, but I still think having your entire ankle break out into an angry, deep red, itchy, blistering rash, is pretty bad. I tried to take a picture of it, but it doesn't look like much in the photo. Perhaps I will post it later, but don't feel like bothering with it right now. Let's just say I wont be using regular band aids or condoms ever again.

Oh GUL...

"For humans, honesty is a matter of degree. Engineers are always honest in matters of technology and human relationships. That's why it's a good idea to keep engineers away from customers, romantic interests, and other people who can't handle the truth."

Ghosts in this damn house

"Hey stoopid, why do you think I sent you to engineering school? Look under the cover!"

Some day I will write the story about GUL heard Papa and fixed the boiler.

Things I wish I had wrote

"Moreover, I have boundary issues with men. Or maybe that's not fair to say. To have issues with boundaries, one must have boundaries in the first place, right? But I disappear into the person I love. I am the permeable membrane. If I love you, you can have everything. You can have my time, my devotion, my ass, my money, my family, my dog, my dog's money, my dog's time-everything. If I love you, I will carry for you all your pain, I will assume for you all your debts (in every definition of the word), I will protect you from your own insecurity, I will project upon you all sorts of good qualities that you have never actually cultivated in yourself and I will buy christmas presents for your entire family. I will give you the sun and the rain, and if they are not available, I will give you a sun check and a rain check. I will give you all this and more, until I get so exhausted and depleted that the only way I can recover my energy is by becoming infatuated with someone else."

-Elizabeth Gilbert

Seriously... no power for the third weekend in a row!!!!!

fuck you, you fucking lame ass landlord. am I seriously not going to have power this weekend? seriously? for the third weekend in a row? couldn't you have at least let me know? Instead I found out when you fuckers sent a power surge through my apartment that blew up a lamp and killed my blow dryer. Not to mention the fact that I only have half of my hair straightened and now must leave the house this way. You better be fucking thankful that I didn't have my laptop plugged in. If you damaged my laptop I would have freaked the fuck out. Back to the lamp, it literally exploded! There was a burst of smoke and now my room smells awful. I fucking hate you right now.

People I Hate

my boss hates me

i spent at least 4 hours at work looking up stuff on wikipedia. I now know more than I care to about Mobius strips, superheros, crater lake, and rss feeds.

maybe my boss would hate me less if i did more work?

maybe i would do more work if my boss was less of a bitch?

In other news in the category "people I hate"...

my landlord decided to do electrical work on my house this weekend. Of course he doesn't tell me this until I wake up to the sound of hammering and two guys yelling at each other from opposite ends of the cellar, though they may as well have been in my room, it was so loud. So I am hungover and confused as to why I am awake at 7:45 Am on a Saturday and to add to the pain I realize that we have no power. Well fuck how do you expect me to get pretty with out lights or blow dryers or flat irons? To make matters even more awesome we are having a party that evening. Yes! expecting all of our friends to be arriving at our home in 12 short hours for what ended up being a party in the dark, though we did manage to have music thanks to a fully charged laptop battery. How fucking lame is that? On a positive note, people brought enough amazing food that I will be living on leftovers for at least a week.

So somehow, despite it being easter weekend and being stuck with my extended family all day on Sunday, I still managed to make it a clean sweep and wake up hungover Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Nice work kid. Anyway, there was ham (I hate ham), lasagna, and wine. Also, the destruction of my uncles marriage. Eh, all in all a success.
I found this here www.drinkingfortwo.net and it made me laugh.

i saw this lady get cut off by a guy and she yelled out 'what's wrong with people'. i thought it was a good question and wanted to say 'people take shits and pretend to wash their hands by running the water. they cup their farts then cook a meal. they pick their scalps in public. they kick dogs. they jerk off to wal mart flyers. they ask to borrow 5 bucks for lunch and never pay you back. they cook fish in the microwave. they cut their nails in public. they wear white socks with dark pants and shoes. they laugh for all the wrong reasons. they piss in your sink. they pretend to sleep when old people get on the bus. they have more than 6 items in the express aisle. they squeeze the bread at the bakery for no reason. they sample the grapes with their shit caked hands. they pronounce schedule as 'shed-ule'. they shit on the seat. they shave their pubes but nothing else. they whistle all the fucking time. they don't die when you smash bricks over their heads. they laugh at stupid jokes and when they laugh you see their really white teeth and search for bricks to smash them all out. they fake cry at funerals. they smell like milk. they sound like a horse when they eat. they buy really expensive water for the bottle not the water. they use gay fucking buzz words. they pay 5 dollars for coffee. they breed.'
in the end i didn't say anything to the lady. she looked like she was on her way to score some crack and i had a feeling that she really knew what was wrong. stupid cow.
